The excitation system STS-300-2000-2,5-UHL4 is a Ukrainian development (RE LLC "PREOBRAZOVATELNAYA TEHNIKA"). The system implements HMI Weintek based AWP. Climatization of the room with the equipment of the excitation system was carried out by column air conditioner MIDEA MFM-48. As part of complex tests and commissioning, thermal imaging surveys of power thyristor sections were carried out

The works starting with dismantling the old system finishing with grid connection to the Ukrainian power system with 60 MW output for TG-5 took 41 days, including dismantling, installation, connection of power and control circuits, as well as comprehensive testing and commissioning. The excitation system SSTE-800-250-2.5-UHL4 (SPE "PREOFRESHCHATELNAYA TECHNIKA") is a Ukrainian development, the field damping system is developed under a Ukrainian patent. The power transformer TSZP-630/10-UZ (PE "ELTIZ") 630 kVA, 10.5 kV/0.475 kV, U/D-11 and the microprocessor-based relay protection device RZL-01 (LLC "SPE "RELSIS") are also developed by Ukrainian companies. The premises with the excitation system equipment were air-conditioned by MIDEA MFM-48 column air conditioners. As part of the comprehensive testing and commissioning, thermal imaging surveys of the power thyristor sections and process oscillography were performed using the ADC-BS-8V-9C digital recorder of electrical parameters. Digital models of the turbine generator were used to develop the field damping system and to adjust the current, voltage, and reactive power controllers

Designing the replacement of the 320 MW TG excitation system with a static thyristor self-excitation system SVTG-3.2k/500-1 KS2T2.5-AR24-UHL4 (SPE "PREOBRAZOVATEL-KOMPLEX" LLC) with nonlinear damping resistors Metrosil FME/8000/600A/US12P/4PP/2SS, which works in conjunction with the Emerson Ovation ATS. Replacement of the unit's RPA with ATS terminals (RET670, REG670 and others), replacement of the generator circuit breaker with a 20kV, 13.3kA FKG1F (ALSTOM) circuit breaker with a 120kA breaking capacity, replacement of the synchronizer with a SYNCHROTACT 6 SYN6201 ATS, complex automation, inspection of building structures, architectural and construction part (strengthening of supporting structures for installation of power transformer TSZP-4130/20-U3 (PE "ELTIZ") weighing 11.6 tons. ), heating and ventilation (use of precision air conditioners to cool down the transformer room). Within the framework of the project, dynamic stability calculations were implemented in accordance with the requirements of SOU-N IEC 40.1-00100227-68 2012 "Power System Sustainability. Guidelines" (models of the ST4C thyristor self-excitation regulator and the PSS2B system stabilizer in accordance with the requirements of IEEE 421.5 Recommended Practice for Excitation System Models for Power System Stability Studies)
